Strengthened indigenous students organization

Indigenous students at the university are organized in the Organización de Estudiantes de los Pueblos Indígenas de la Amazonía Peruana - OEPIAP. This organization is headed by and for native university students, and seeks to improve the quality of life and living conditions of indigenous students at the university. 

Foto Capacitacion Tic Oepiap 11 2014Vzw Putumayo gives workshops about relevant issues such as leadership, project management, identity, communication, and other topics that students find interesting, not only for the native students that we support directly, but for all indigenous students who belong to OEPIAP, and other interested parties. In addition to that, Putumayo vzw also organizes monthly cineclubs with the students, during which films are shown, followed by an open debate.


  • Search for alliances and contacting specialists in relevant issues.
  • The gathering and systematisation of information.
  • Organization of a journey to the students' home region and supporting them with the workshops they have given to their own federations.
  • Coordination between and meetings with students, their leaders and their federations.
